Democrats can go a few different directions with the conclusion of Mueller’s investigation and Barr’s subsequent letter to congress. My opinion is that they praise Mueller for the job he’s done but stress that the Special Counsel was appointed by Trump’s own Justice Department to investigate President Donald Trump, and repeat it like a mantra.
Democrats should still demand that the report be made public in its entirety without delay, while criticizing AG William Barr’s unilateral decision not to pursue obstruction charges against the President. Tell the country that now the distraction of the investigation is over they can focus on continuing to do the job the American people overwhelming elected them to do.
Democrats should continue to investigate Trump, his family and his administration, but more low key. Trump will bluster and brag about “no collusion,” let him another shiny object will come along soon enough to distract him. Trump is vulnerable and beatable in the 2020 election and we should focus on that.
