For the past 2 days the MSM has been pushing the fairy tale that Wednesday’s debate was a series of attacks on President Obama. Their justification for this nonsense is based on 2 so-called “attacks”. The first “attack” was when Bill DeBlasio asked Joe Biden a number of times if he had said anything to President Obama to discourage the mass deportations that occurred during the Obama Administration. As we now know, Obama’s hands were tied in regards to that policy. Obama did get the Senate to pass bi-partisan comprehensive immigration reform, which died in The House thanks to Boehner and Ryan. Biden should have pointed that out, He did however remind people that Obama was responsible for DACA, the Dreamer Program, and a number of other programs designed to stem the tide of deportations. As attacks go, this was at best a spitball. A spitball that Biden evaded rather easily.
The second so-called attack on Obama was the Democratic candidates pointing out the flaws in the ACA. Joe Biden’s health care plan revolves around fixing and expanding the ACA. If Joe Biden, who has spent the entire campaign using Obama as a human shield, recognizes it needs to be fixed, I don’t see how other candidates pointing that out constitutes an “attack on Obama”. The ACA is flawed. There are flaws inherent to the policy as it was passed (no public option), There are flaws which became known upon implementation ($500 a month premiums and $7000 deductibles are not most people’s idea of “affordable” health care). There are problems due to the Republicans picking it apart (ending the mandate, etc). Pointing these out is not an attack on Obama. The ACA as it was passed, was not meant to be the final step in providing universal health care to all Americans. Once again, pointing that out is not an “attack on Obama”.
So why is the MS spreading this lie? Well, first off, they didn’t want to spend Thursday and Friday discussing Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders clear dominance in the debate. They didn’t want 2 days of them and their supporters helping to build momentum for their campaigns and straightening out the record on M4A. It was so obvious the Corporate Masters were being served when Tapper and Matthews couldn’t get off the tax increase aspect of the plan, rather that the overall benefit to the middle class.
It also didn’t help that their moderate darlings Biden and Harris both showed they don’t have “it”. Biden was improved, but being coherent most of the time, is not what constitutes a great performance. They couldn’t even pretend that he won. Biden seemed a better candidate for the nursing home than the White House. Harris was a disaster, she couldn’t defend her record, and just came off as defensive.
So Liz and Bernie didn’t get their victory lap. The MSM can bury their victory all they want, but whether Harris and Mayor Pete supporters want to accept it, we’re basically down to a 3 person race. The next debate should be really interesting. Liz and Bernie double teaming Biden, while the rest gang up on those 2. I wish I liked popcorn.
