This is from an email I received from NC House Democrats this morning:
We were told explicitly by the GOP that no votes were occurring until later today. What Republicans did just moments ago –while Governor Cooper and members of the House were at a 9/11 memorial – shows EXACTLY why they cannot be trusted in power. (Bold Mine)
The only bell this rings is the one of the evil meglomaniac who phoned a TV station after the towers were down to brag that he now owned the tallest building in Manhattan. These dipshits overriding the Governor’s veto of their budget is just another way of keeping their stormtrooper boots on the neck of the State of North Carolina.
I know, I know, they’re full of piss and vinegar after they narrowly squeaked out a victory on the “Dan and Dan Show” last night, Bishop barely beat McCready in the NC-09 Special Election, otherwise known as the “How to get a Do-over Even When You’ve Committed Election Fraud and Everybody Knows It” maneuver.
Some days I just want to nuke the site from orbit, you know? But then I have to remember where I was last night. At a Democratic precinct meeting where we had two wonderful speakers: Danny Rogers, the first African-American Sheriff of Guilford County, and Avery Crumb, the first Female AND AfrIcan-American District Attorney of Guilford County. I told the loved one after we got home, that it felt so good to hear from people who make you proud to have voted for them. Because they really, really did.
We have to keep at it. Even when it sucks. And DAYUM some days NC Republicans really and truly suck!
Edited to add: I had planned to update this diary as events unfolded, however, I was beaten to it about an hour later, so it can be read about in Jen Hayden’s diary (I think I am genetically incapable of hyperlinking). The representative from NC-18 gave the Speaker quite a well-deserved earful.
