I’ve been losing some sleep on this the last couple days.
You all know what a corrupt cesspool the gerrymandered Wisconsin state legislature is. Not to mention the creatures that have arisen from it over the years—Walker, Ryan, Priebus, your new US congressmen Tiffany and Fitzgerald, and others too numerous to mention.
I have been watching for indications that they will take the election day results, claim voter fraud, and overturn the Biden win by installing their own electoral college electors. Two days ago we had this in the news: GOP lawmaker suggests Wisconsin electors choose presidential winner.
State Rep. Joe Sanfelippo, of New Berlin, said he doesn't trust the election process or the outcome of results.
He is a member of the Assembly Committee tasked by Speaker Robin Vos with investigating the election.
Sanfelippo is calling for an outside audit into what he said was a wide range of irregularities that cast doubt on the results.
There has been no evidence of any election fraud.
He was reelected last Tuesday.
"You either have to toss this election out and have a whole new election, or we have our delegates to the Electoral College vote for the person they think legitimately should have won," Sanfelippo said.
The article goes on to quote the Wisconsin Elections Commission:
"In Wisconsin, the state Legislature plays no role in certifying or deciding which slate of electors vote in the Electoral College," the commission said in a statement to WISN 12 News. Those electors "must vote for the candidates of the party that nominated them."
But then this morning we get this out of Trump:
In another tweet, Trump claimed that he is “preparing to win” in Wisconsin, another Midwestern battleground state that Biden is projected to have won. Trump derided The Washington Post and ABC News for a poll published Oct. 28 showing Biden with a sizable lead in the state.
It sure sounds like they are a following a game plan. We in Wisconsin can tell you: do not be surprised if and when the Republicans here try to do this. I hope I am wrong. But we have seen for years how they have cared only for power and party, suppressed voters, delegitimized Gov. Tony Evers, bought and sold the state supreme court, and abandoned all pretense of governing for the last six months. They will not meet as a legislature to address the COVID crisis that is engulfing the state right now… but they will me more than happy to convene to overturn the will of the people of WIsconsin.
