‘Everything you done to me is already done to you’….
Why am I on a rant about Joe Scarborough this early Friday morning? I wake up to turn on MSNBC to see if Georgia had flipped (which it had) and then I have to listen to this man rail on how the 2020 election is really a referendum on Democrats because they lost seats in the House and may not get the Senate after even Republican pollsters said that it would be a bloodbath for the GOP.
Joe went on to say that Dems had in private bitterly complained about Obama and that the Republicans really want Trump out because they secretly hate him and are tired of holding water for him and they just want to get back to business.
What in the entire fffff is this.
Scarborough represents all of what is entirely wrong with America and why even with a potential Biden/Harris victory, they can’t even fix.
Comparing Dems disagreement with Obama’s POLICY DIRECTION is NOT THE SAME THING as being complicit to a grifting criminal who hasn’t found a law that he is not willing to break. When the GOP Senators had an opportunity to convict Trump after his impeachment, they blithely chose to acquit, thus allowing Trump to go on doing even worse things to the country. The GOP, drunk with power, cared more for ‘trump-loading’ federal courts than they cared about people losing their jobs, homes and lives to this Coronavirus.
They certainly don’t give a damn about black people, thus the purpose of my post. Trump is singularly responsible for normalizing hate in the open — for facilitating the radicalization of white supremacist groups into legitimate domestic terrorists.
But yeah Joe, let’s do blame the Democrats for half of this country still wanting to fight a civil war.
After all this country has been through in 4 short years, here we are — having to stay up all night to hope and pray that Biden can ooze past Trump.
The real question to be asking here is why the hell is it this close in the first damn place?
70M people STILL.VOTED.FOR.THAT.MAN. STILL.
The real question to ask is why? Why would they do it?
It’s for the same reason why Trump was never the beginning of this mess. He is just the open, in your ffffing face of it.
It’s for the same reason why Ronald Reagan opened his Presidential campaign in Philadelphia, MS, the city where 3 Civil Rights activists were murdered for working to help black folk get the right to vote in the South.
It’s for the same reason why we have this damn electoral college system in the first place.
--Why Lyndon Johnson knew the South would be lost after signing the Civil Rights Act
--Why the ‘New Deal’ didn’t really include Black folk
I mean, do I really need to go on here?
If the truth be really told, Biden’s path to the White House is squarely on the backs of Black Women and Blacks in general because we showed up and did our civic duty despite the horrific, disparate and racist systematic treatment since the duration of black folk being in this country.
While I can understand a frustrated Dem Congresswoman ranting over some progressive messaging that may have cost her seat, let’s have a ‘come to Jesus moment here’.
More white women voted for Trump in 2020 than in 2016, I mean what the hell is that?
This isn’t about defunding the police or economic anxiety foolishness.
This is about a large number of people in this country who still believe, in their heart of hearts, that they are entitled to privileged and preferential treatment over those who look like me and the idea of someone who looks like me running things or having any power over them is worth letting the country go to hell in a handbasket than facing up to their own bigotries.
Chew on that Morning Joe and know this:
Until America acknowledges the elephant in the room and correct it, everything the United States does in the future will never really succeed.
What America has done to us has already been done to America.
