I am not a lawyer. So I have a lot of questions about Safe Harbor and hoping the community can help.
My understanding is that Safe Harbor means that if a state certifies their vote and resolves all challenges to their Electors by the ‘Safe Harbor’ date, then Congress cannot challenge the electors.
My first question: the Safe Harbor date this year is Dec. 8. Does that mean Midnight tonight or midnight tomorrow night? The law states that it is ‘6 days before electors vote’. That’s Dec. 14. So again, what is the actual time?
Also, my understanding as well is that a state can only reach safe harbor if ‘all disputes are resolved’. Disputes seems to mean court cases. So, if any of the 6 states that still have lawsuits ongoing and don’t clear them out before ‘safe harbor’, the does that mean they are not eligible for ‘safe harbor’?
I just want this shit to end. I am hoping tomorrow — most of this becomes moot as the states reach ‘safe harbor’.
