There’s a new video on The Hill’s Youtube channel, which may explain some of the irrationality among Democratic leaders whom at least some of us (including myself) used to look up to:
Stoller says that it’s not mostly about ideology, though of course the donors with interests in private insurance likely don’t want Medicare for all, but rather a new phenomenon, where a small number of operatives control access to the "donor world." Bernie won’t “play ball” with this new “system” (not requiring the donations from these elite donors), whereas the others will. Also, I suggest trying to read at least chapter 18 of the book, “Secrecy World,” which provides insight into what the elites/donors want and what they are trying to accomplish.
I am especially irritated by the “let’s have unity to defeat Trump” mantra of a couple months ago, while the elites and their Dem shills thought Bernie would not get more delegates than anyone else, which has now turned into outrageous attacks against him (though that seems to be leading to more support for him). And how many of you, regardless of what you understand, want to believe, or Dem candidate you believe in, don’t think there’s a good chance Trump will be reelected if Bernie gets far more delegates than anyone else yet is not the nominee?
This has been quite eye-openiing for me, an HRC supporter in 2016 (and critic of statements made by Sue Sarandon at the time, for example). I think if Bernie does surge and we keep hearing Dem attacks against him (for instance if he wins big on Super Tuesday) that tells me we indeed live in a nation that possesses a government that might not be worth supporting any longer (and I am currently researching other nations to move to if the worse case scenario occurs). At this point, it seems most Dem voters have closed their minds and will only vote for or against Bernie, but ask yourself, how could we get from unity at all costs to this in such a short period of time? Bernie has a consistent record and has been saying the same things for decades, so if it was unity at all costs other than Bernie, then our great Dem leaders could have told us that a couple months ago. The fish does indeed rot from the head, I fear in this case!
Note that you can read my last couple of posts if you want citations of what Bernie has accomplished and what the polling suggests, etc.
