Great news for Joe Biden out of South Carolina.
The Clemson University Palmetto poll was just released and it shows Biden pulling away in SC.
This news follows Joe’s solid debate performance last night and this morning’s endorsement from the very influential SC Congressman, Jim Clyburn.
The Clemson poll was fairly accurate in 2016. The final poll was 64% -14% for Hillary Clinton. (+50)
Final result in 2016: 73.44% - 26.02% (+47.42)
Dave Weigel points out that polls in South Carolina typically underestimate the level of support older African American voters have for a candidate.
I don’t believe Joe will win at the Clinton margin in 2016, but it’s realistic to think he could win by +25.
This type of victory could springboard Biden to a solid outcome on Super Tuesday—when several states in the South cast ballots. A Biden comeback narrative could very well change the dynamics of this race.
