I received a “story” notification on my FB feed that Jada Pinkett-Smith and her family had devoted an episode of “Red Table Talk” to concerns around the coronavirus pandemic.
And oh my, it was enlightening.
Spanning three generations of Smiths, as well as infectious-disease expert Dr. Michael Osterholm, the discussion ranged from how viruses function, how humans develop immune responses, how COVID-19 is transmitted, and also (via an interview with a COVID-19 ‘survivor’) how it feels to get the disease. Will Smith, who usually does not participate in RTT, was present as the “Family Expert” on viruses, having studied up on the subject years before to prepare for his “I am Legend” role as a virologist in a post-pandemic city. He paid attention. Watch how he reassures his daughter Willow in plain and clear terms, earning kudos from the real doctor in the discussion.
I encourage all DKos readers to watch it here, even if you don’t have a Facebook account. www.facebook.com/…
