For all the thirst pictures he posts on Instagram, Schock long played coy about his sexuality. A lot of photographs to help back up his claim too…
In a lengthy Instagram post, Schock says “I assumed that revealing myself as their gay congressman would not go over well. I put my ambition over the truth, which not only hurt me, but others as well.” During his time in Congress, Schock garnered a 0% from the Human Rights Campaign.
Schock says if he was in still in Congress, he’d totally sissy that walk.
“The truth is that if I were in Congress today, I would support LGBTQ rights in every way I could. I realize that some of my political positions run very much counter to the mainstream of the LGBTQ movement, and I respect them for those differences. I hope people will allow for me the same.”
Well, if you take the “hide in the closet and rely on my cis-whiteness to get by” then that sure is counter to most LGBTQ thinking.
Schock justified his former opposition to LGBTQ issues as being a product of the times, claiming he was just like like Sen. John ($7,740,521 from the NRA) McCain, Clinton, and Obama. Except that none of those people actually had personal insight of actually being gay.
Schock also gives a shout out to the “Downton Abbey” scandal which was an extravagant remodel of his DC office inspired by the show as him being “a victim of “dog whistle” homophobia”:
“It took me a while to figure out that it was really just the media’s own way in which they got to say that about me in print…to tie me to a stereotype. In fact, if you want to learn something about the “woke” media, Google my name and consider how prominently that fabricated lie, still without even a single source to back it up, will feature in stories about me by people who otherwise call themselves journalists. It was another way, albeit more sophisticated, to be teased about being gay. A dog whistle.”
Growing up, I always put things in rainbow order. Guess that was a louder dog whistle on my budding sexuality more so than Schock’s escapades in his 30s.
If not already apparent, I’m “thrilled” to have another LGBTQ member want to be accepted after using their time in power to do what they could to screw over the LGBTQ community. Thankfully, seems a lot of people remember his hatred while in Congress, still note that the his coming out never mentioned an apology and just want him to sashay away.
