There have been several articles and speculations about who Joe Biden's Vice-presidential nominee is going to be and when she should be announced.
In my opinion, I do not think there is any rush to name that person at this time. I think he should take his time. I think what Biden needs now more than a vice president.
The rest of the year up till and after the election is going to be consumed by Covid 19 issues and the next president is going to spend most of his time dealing with Covid 19 related matters as it relates to both domestic and foreign matters.
Some people have proposed that Joe Biden form a shadow cabinet, I think in lieu of a shadow cabinet he should form two shadow committees instead. Forming these committees would allow the campaign to hit the ground running when Joe Biden is sworn in as the next President in January.
The first committee will be a Corona virus pandemic health committee.
The committee would be proposing ways to better handle the current epidemic. Such proposals could involve how to better handle issues relating to corona virus tests, PPES, vaccines, drugs, Obamacare, corona virus testing and treatment costs, social distancing issues and other health care related matters. This committee would also be responsible for drafting plans of how the new administration would handle the Corona virus pandemic when it assumes office in January.
I propose members of this committee should include at a minimum Ron Klain who was in charge of pandemic response under President Obama, renowned epidemiologists and members of the white house pandemic council that was disbanded by the Trump administration.
The second committee would be the Corona virus pandemic economic recovery committee. The committee's responsibility should include developing strategies to alleviate the struggles by ordinary folks at this time, formulating steps that need to be taken on day one of the new Joe Biden administration come next year, and coming up with people focused as opposed to corporate focused ideas on how to revive and stimulate the economy when the pandemic has been ameliorated.
The members of this committee should include politicians such as Andrew Yang, Elizabeth Warren, Julian Castro, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris and economists such as Paul Krugman and Janet Yellen and philanthropists such as Bill Gates.
These committees would communicate to the public regularly by way of releasing text statements, doing press conferences, town halls, TV interviews and any other means that can be used to reach the American people.
I think having such committees would not only allow the Joe Biden campaign to develop and formulate the right policies, it will also help the campaign to spread its message in the busy news cycle especially in this season of limited campaigning.
