Many years ago Hubby and I used to play trivia games. If you could choose a topic for trivia questions that you would do well with, what would it be?
Sports, movies, books, Shakespeare, history, WW II, geography, poets, music, famous people?
I am at the stage of “Oh, it’s on the tip of my tongue,” so I should probably sit the games out now, especially with a time limit.

Or as in Jeopardy, what is the question? (Answers below)
- Kirk Gibson, Tiger, 1984
- James Whitcomb Riley, poet
- Destruction of the Death Star
- The last major German offensive campaign on the Western Front during World War II, and took place from 16 December 1944 to 25 January 1945.
- “O, how full of briars is this working-day world!”
(for Riley, if you answered “The frost is on the pumpkin and the fodder’s in the shock,” I wouldn’t blame you).

My family has been out and about, but now all my chicks are back in their nests for the time being. My worry box took a beating, but we did this to our parents, too. My oldest grandbaby drove his girlfriend up to meet us...2½ hours. They had lunch with us and went swimming and then they went to a Christmas store. A second grandbaby did her driving test yesterday and got her certificate. A third one is still working on hers. Time flies!!!

I am trying to get something on the page between questions and answers.

I am always interested in what you are reading. Is it good, is it bad, is it boring?

- Detroit manager Sparky Anderson was seen yelling at Gibson from the dugout, "He don't want to walk you!", showing four fingers and then making a bat-swinging motion, the universal baseball gesture for "swing away." Gibson got the message and launched Gossage's 1–0 fastball deep into Tiger Stadium's right field upper deck for a three-run homer, icing the game and the Series for the Tigers.

2. Indiana poet James Whitcomb Riley (1849–1916) may have coined the phrase when he wrote:
“When I see a bird that walks like a duck and swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, I call that bird a duck.”

3. One of the last remaining pilots, Luke flew through the Death Star trench at blinding speed with the goal of shooting a volley of proton torpedoes into a small exhaust port. Vader closed in, ready to destroy Luke's starship -- noting that “the Force is strong with this one” -- but a surprise blast from Han and the Millennium Falcon sent Vader's fighter tumbling into space, clearing Luke for the shot. Calling on the Force with guidance from Obi-Wan’s disembodied voice, the Jedi-to-be delivered a precise shot, and the Death Star was destroyed.

4. Battle of the Bulge: Fierce resistance on the northern shoulder of the offensive, around Elsenborn Ridge, and in the south, around Bastogne, blocked German access to key roads to the northwest and west that they counted on for success. Columns of armor and infantry that were supposed to advance along parallel routes found themselves on the same roads. This, and terrain that favored the defenders, threw the German advance behind schedule and allowed the Allies to reinforce the thinly placed troops. The farthest west the offensive reached was the village of Foy-Nôtre-Dame, south east of Dinant, being stopped by the U.S. 2nd Armored Division on 24 December 1944…
