It seems that Pence’s meeting with Trump did not produce the results that Nancy Pelosi had hoped for. Bloomberg Politics has announced that Pence and Trump have agreed to work together for the remainder of their term in office. This means that there will be no 25th Amendment removal of Trump nor will Trump resign. The report comes from unnamed White House officials.
The two men, meeting in the Oval Office, agreed that people who broke into the Capitol don’t represent Trump’s “America First” movement and pledged to continue their work on behalf of the country for the remainder of their term, the official said. It was a good conversation in which Trump and Pence discussed the week ahead and reflected on the last four years of the administration’s work, the official added.
It seems that Pence has, for some reason, gotten over having mobs hunt him through the Capitol building in an attempt to hang him after Trump sent them rampaging down the Mall. What that reason might be, whether raw ambition, abject cowardice, kompromat, or simple stupidity, we may never know. It does seem to be an accurate account of the meeting between the two, however, given that the source officials bluntly stated that the information they relayed had been worked out between Pence’s office and Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. So we can forget about Pence and his supposed anger over Trump’s betrayal. He’s going to fall in line like the toady he’s always been and enable Trump to the end. It seems his actions during the electoral vote counting were only because he couldn’t find a way to not do his duty. But now he’s reverted to his natural state of unquestioning support.
