That’s it. That’s the question. Nothing to do with the impeachment trial. I want to know if Trump can be criminally charged for inciting the January 6th insurrection.
In between tasks this AM I’ve been researching whether or not a FORMER president can be criminally charged for crimes committed while in office. Not being a lawyer, I’ve relied on the internet for an answer, (yah i know), and that answer seems to be YES.
So if the answer is yes, who would do the charging? Again relying on the internet, the answer seems to be Michael R. Sherwin, Acting U.S. Attorney, District of Columbia.
So if the answer is yes, and we know who’s supposed to do the charging, I want to know: how can Trump NOT be criminally charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District Of Columbia for inciting violence?
**Sorry for the quick hit on a Friday afternoon, but I’ve been thinking about this all morning, and I’ve had a busy day that will continue into the night. If my question has already been addressed elsewhere in DK, my apologies. Also, I won’t be able to get into comments until late tonight or early tomorrow, so thanks in advance for anyone who participates. Love to you all!
