I will start by saying that this post is 100% self-promotion. I’m not breaking any news or telling anyone here anything that they don’t already know, other than that perhaps most of you (who would care) don’t know that I’m a musician with a 30+ year career. I have a new single coming out, and my line of work requires promotion. Given the topic of the song, I figured I might find a few people here who might like the song and its message.
This is not one of my rants, which are sometimes praised and sometimes objected to. If this post isn’t for you, then thank you for reading this far and see you some other time.
The song does have a message though.
On April 2, 2021 I am releasing the single “He Takes a Knee”.
Lyrics by Kevin Donville, Music by Chris Reed, Copyright 2021 A.R.R. (BMI)
Initially written to commemorate the anniversary of George Stinney Jr.'s execution, with lyrics updated over the past year. The problems we face with racism are decades, CENTURIES older than a lot of us are willing to admit. If someone takes a knee, you should applaud - it's a stand against the inequality of our justice system.

If you're upset by the one curse in the song, keep in mind that there is no polite way to describe a racist. I edited it for the radio version.
For Colin, of course.
Recorded at Edge of the World Studios in 2021.
