A common element in all the stories Kos is swiping from the Herman Cain Awards subreddit is that the moment symptoms appear, they ask for prayers. (asks for funds come much later).
If you read these articles, it is of course always futile. Kos is making a point, as are the folks finding these stories to publish on Reddit.
If you are a Prayer Warrior ™ however, you have plenty of evidence that your prayers help. This is something we shouldn’t overlook when watching this play out and wondering how these people are so willing to do anything but Vax to stay alive. This BTW is also true of all the quack cures or “preventative regimens” that you see offered to help when the victims are struck down with COVID.
COVID LETHALITY RATE IS ONLY 1%
It’s less if you get good medical care, maybe 5% if you get no care and of course is higher with comorbities etc, but lets just say nobody notices a lot of the more mild cases and assume that maybe 5% of the folks who get COVID die of it while under a “Prayer Warrior” barrage of folks on Facebook praying for breath and health. (or Horse Paste or any other “regimen” for the less religious magaheads)
That means for every horror story we see when they die, they have 19 cases where they “Saved” somebody with their prayers. Or their home remedy of boiled lemon peels. Or their bullying doctor into giving them horse paste. Or whatever else they think will help.
That’s powerful confirmation bias that you are doing something helpful. When actually the death rate would be MUCH MUCH less (like a factor of 100 to 1000) if they just fucking vaxxed. But you can’t prove a negative. Vaxxed people don’t catch “THE COVID” and ask for prayers, so you have no stories either way on outcomes for such heathens.
So if you wonder how they can keep believing when their family members catch it and several die, a contributing factor is most of those folks prayed for dozens of other people, most of whom recovered. It doesn’t occur to them that the recovery outcomes are independent of their prayers.
