The day started out on a real sour note. As I tried to turn on my PC to check in on Daily Kos, my games, and the world in general, my monitor continued down the road it has been declining down for a couple weeks and finally waved the white flag, or in this case a series of screen streaks. No more picture and I’m hoping it’s not the computer. So, off to Best Buy to grab their lowest line 24” monitor and wave a c note bye bye while I hope my un-Geek like diagnosis of a crapped-out monitor proves correct.
I got there about 5 minutes before opening and was waiting in line with my new T shirt featuring the above picture and the FU Russian Warship emblazoned on the bottom of it, when this huge burly guy starts walking over towards me. “Do you support Ukraine?” he asks me. “Damn right I do.” was my somewhat bravado filled reply. He reaches out his fist to bump with me and says: “I want to thank you. I am from Ukraine on leave and we really appreciate your support.” After thanking him back for being on the battle line of democracy vs fascism and admitting to my own trepidation about how Republicans in this state (deSantistan) and others could undermine the battle for their freedom, he just smiled and said: “They’re only strong here.”
The lump in my throat just won’t go away. And I couldn’t even manage a decent “slava Ukraini.”
