This is an opinion piece. Nothing but my thoughts here, folks. I read that one of the reasons Pence refused to get taken away from the Capital was the fear that the secret service would sequester him from declaring Biden the winner. We will never know what was going through Pence's mind. I imagine the same intense hell that came for all who worked with Trump. Does a heroic act make someone a hero? I would argue yes, Pence was a hero for democracy that day. Only that day. Many will argue he was just doing his job. Let's not forgot the many others who suffered greatly during Trump's reign for just doing their jobs. That being said, there is no way that 99 percent of us would ever vote for Pence for even county Mosquito Controller. As the J6 committee wraps up their investigation, I believe we're going to hear about a lot of people just like Pence. His career is destroyed. I can not and will not be less than happy that one less radical republican is off the electoral board. But you have to wonder how many of the republicans who bash him publicly praise him secretly in the same way they secretly despise Trump. People we can't stand whose politics we can not abide by but on that day did right by democracy. We all thought the reason the reason the national guard wasn't deployed was to give the insurrectionists a chance. I think we're going to find out it was a mixture of both Trump loyalists and those that feared that he would take control of the guard. I know, all that evil needs is for good men to do nothing. Got that. What I am saying, is that there is probably quite a number of heroic actions taken that day behind the scenes that we're going to hear. New heroes will arise and if they are republican, careers will be destroyed by their own base. Trump is the gift that keeps giving in that regard. I wonder how many other Pences are out there. On a deeply personal note, am I the only one who thinks Pence looks and sounds like real life Brick Tamland from Anchorman?
