Ukraine, American fascists, global warming....My prescription for this illness is to listen to some good music.
It may not change things but it will make you feel better and will make you a better person.
I recommend New Sounds https://www.newsounds.org/, a free streaming source that grew out of the WNYC NPR station. This is the brain child of John Schaefer, who, weirdly enough, is the Dick Clark of modern contemporary music. He is older than dirt but still looks like he is 25 going on 30. And he knows everything that there is to know about modern classical music. No, I take that back...he knows everything that there is to know about modern music—jazz, pop, hip-hop, etc.
This stream doesn’t have any announcers—if you want to know what’s playing, then look it up! Thanks to New Sounds, they are a number of composers and artists that I never knew existed, that are now my favorites (Missy Mazzoli, Evan Ziporyn, The Bad Plus...).
Give it a listen. Your neurons will thank you for it.
