I’m sure many of you are sick of the Boebert family, just as many of you were sick of the Palins. Like the Palins, though, the Boeberts haven’t ended their run-ins with the law, with the press and with each other.
Yesterday, Jayson Boebert, patriarch of this mess, was arrested (not the first and probably not the last time) on multiple charges:
Per USA Today:
The ex-husband of Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo. was arrested on six criminal charges Tuesday, including assault, following a reported physical altercation between the former couple over the weekend as well as a separate incident involving another relative just over 48 hours earlier.
Jayson Steven Boebert, 43, was booked into jail in Glenwood Springs, Colorado on charges of third-degree assault, harassment, prohibited use of weapons, obstructing a peace officer, disorderly conduct, trespassing and obstruction of a police officer, court papers obtained by USA TODAY show.
A Garfield County Sheriff's Office jail spokesperson told USA TODAY he was released on $2,500 bond the same day he was booked into the facility.
That first paragraph, imo, was poorly written but it introduced the rest of the long article detailing both the argument in the restaurant that entertained us over the weekend as well as the second incident where Jayson got involved in a fight with his son. In that fight, he stuck at least one finger into the mouth of his son and he also had a rifle in his possession.
Jayson Boebert allegedly armed himself after son called 911 during a fight, court records show
Jayson Boebert was jailed Tuesday on charges stemming from back-to-back fights involving his ex-wife, U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, and their adult son, including allegations he armed himself with a rifle when he learned their son had called 911 for help.
Court documents related to his arrest tied the charges to events following an altercation with Lauren Boebert in a Silt bar Saturday night and an early morning fight Tuesday with his 18-year-old son, Tyler.
According to Garfield County jail and court records, Jayson Boebert, 43, was released from the county jail Tuesday. His bail was set at $1,500 for the assault charge and $1,000 for the criminal mischief charge. Both are misdemeanors.
From Colorado Public Radio:
Concerning the incident at the restaurant:
Lauren Boebert said the two were trying to reconcile and that they came to the restaurant to continue a conversation they previously started at their old house. She said the conversation between her and Jayson Boebert became heated when they both began discussing their new partners. The affidavit says Lauren Boebert admitted to “placing her finger on Jayson’s nose to end the conversation,” which led Jayson Boebert to call 911.
Both parties had been drinking, according to the affidavit, though it does not say whether Lauren appeared inebriated. Lauren Boebert claimed that Jayson Boebert had far more to drink than her and said he gets aggressive when he drinks.
….
Concerning the incident at the home a couple days later:
Garfield County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call from Tyler Boebert, the divorced couple’s eldest son, early Tuesday morning. The teenager told 911 dispatchers that Jayson Boebert had come home drunk and the two had gotten into a physical altercation. Tyler said his father at one point pushed him to the ground and forced his thumb into his mouth, which Tyler said seemed like an attempt to pull out his tooth. Tyler Boebert also reported that Jayson Boebert was carrying a rifle around the house.
Silt Police Chief Mike Kite confirmed Wednesday that his department put out a warrant for Jayson Boebert on obstruction, trespassing and disorderly conduct charges related to the restaurant argument. But before officers could execute that warrant, Garfield County Sheriff’s Office took Boebert into custody on charges tied to the incident with his son. Those charges include the prohibited use of a firearm and two misdemeanor assault charges.
