My first diary for IAN was on May 19, 2013. I’m heading toward eleven years of doing this! I checked the 2024 calendar I have bookmarked. I will be having my anniversary posting on May 19, this year.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Archaeologists have found a ring among a woman’s burial goods that prove Vikings managed to get to Iraq. No shit, Sherlock — those people went everywhere.
2023 had some weird entries for the Guinness Book of World Records.
The Yoshinogari ruins have produced what archaeologists think are Japan’s oldest stone molds for casting bronze.
I just noticed this one: an article on Christmas beers.
Predictions for 2024 from Scott Galloway on Medium. Mostly on business matters, though he does seem to think his son will succeed in getting a driver’s license.

I had my annual wellness check on Wednesday. My bloodwork was much as usual, though I think scheduling right after the holidays was a mistake — none of my cholesterol levels have ever been outside the normal range before.
My doctor ordered x-rays of both hips and one knee. The preliminary verdict on the hips was osteoarthrosis — which is (according to a couple of medical definition sites) basically osteoarthritis without the inflammation. She said I should make an appointment for physical therapy, since I’m more wobbly than is good for me. I am to go for a follow-up with her in early March.
I’m getting more of a handle on my finances now that my financial advisor and I have settled what to do with my share of my mother’s annuities. It will be a few months before I see how it actually works out; but I am hopeful at this point.
I’m having fun with the holiday serial being posted on the Ilona Andrews blog. They are midway through chapter 2 of what will probably be at most five. I know what I think the twist will be because the last time the focus was on this particular main character, he was complaining about his parents and his god all nagging him about settling down with somebody and producing the next generation. Even if I’m wrong, it’s being a huge amount of fun.
My grandson had his birthday party on Saturday. He turns 12 this coming Tuesday.
