You’ve probably heard that sitting is the new smoking. If that truly is the case, I’m going back to smoking, plus I’ll lean against walls instead of sit. When I smoked, I was thin and so much less anxious than I am now.
If sitting is bad for your health, I wonder what the experts think about sleeping all day? I do that at least 3 days a week. Though my “all” day doesn’t mean many hours in a row. My boys sleep only 3 or so hours in a row and as a result that's my schedule too.
I don’t know what that says about my longevity, but I do know how to find out. I’ve been seeing a lot of biological age tests online and I just read an article about them from my NPR channel.
I think most of the tests are free, but I don’t want to take one, that’s for sure. I’m content to believe that I’m going to live to be 98. My grandmother did and except for the last 6 months of her life she lived alone in her house. (Well, way before then, she lived with her husband and child, but they died and/or grew up.)
My father lived into his 80’s and he was a firefighter who was hospitalized for smoke inhalation I don’t know how many times. Plus, he smoked. When he first started smoking there were no filters on cigarettes either.
What are my chances of living a long life? I don’t know and I don’t want to find out in advance. How about you?
