Most Americans (and an awful lot of DK commenters) seem unable to understand the fairly simple proposition that the fact one person’s position is false, stupid, or utterly ridiculous does not AT ALL mean the position of a person opposing the first person is true, or correct, or valid.
So, for example, it’s entirely possible (and in fact seems pretty likely) that Fani Willis is far from perfect, and has done some dumb things in her conduct in and around this case.
Pretending --just because she’s on the right side, and undertaking the incredibly important endeavor of bringing Donny Shit-Stain Trump to justice— that she’s done nothing wrong at all, and is utterly beyond any reproach, is just asinine.
Her relationship with Wade (with no apparent understanding or concern with how it would certainly be seized on by professional Republican rat-fuckers), her speech at the church, her fucking up of the case against Trump co-conspirator Burt Jones, all show considerable lack of judgment.
I’ve got similar concerns about some of the others going after Trump. (Just the fact that Tish James was the hand-picked favorite of scumbag Andrew Cuomo should give anyone pause about her, for example.)
It’d be nice if the people we’re relying on to take down Trump were perfect, and completely without fault.
Unfortunately, they’re not, and it’s pretty stupid to expect that they would be.
Here’s the thing, though: none of that has a tiny fucking thing to do with the utterly immense crimes Trump has committed --and MUST be brought down for— or the validity of the cases against him.
There are two stories here:
1. Democrats (or people on the right side, more generally) are usually less than perfect, and sometimes do some dumb shit.
Fani’s clearly done some dumb shit here.
2. Republicans are slime-crawling insects who will do anything to steal from, cheat, corrupt, undermine, and hurt or kill decent folks at every moment of every day.
They spend a huge part of their time and energy attempting to aid those efforts by ‘rat-fucking’ the folks on the right side. There is nothing they won’t do to win, and no good deed they won’t kill themselves to undo and sabotage by any means they can possibly think of,…
and Dems very often help them immensely by vastly blowing up even tiny misdeeds by other Dems, while ignoring or ‘both-sides-ing’ Republican crimes a thousand or million times greater.
This is incredibly dumb, and it’d be really, really nice if we could stop fucking doing it sometime before we’re all dead.
So Bill Clinton stupidly got a blowjob in the Oval Office, and they literally used it to destroy his presidency, and undermine both Al Gore and his wife Hillary enough that this one stupid and trivial episode may have given us twelve years of monstrous Republican criminals in the White House.
(And how many millions of people are now dead because of it?)
Georgie-Boy Bush did any hundred things roughly a million times worse than Bill’s acceptance of a blowjob in the Oval Office. But we did basically nothing about the former, while allowing the latter to effectively wreck the Presidency for the good guys for the better part of two decades.
How much sense does that make?
Al Franken took a picture where he pretended to grope a female colleague (and got accused by Republican rat-fuckers of greater offenses against others, without any real evidence, as far as I could tell). It was classless and dumb.
Any of thirty Republican Senators were known to have done things a thousand times worse.
We ignored the latter, but happily ended the career of one of the very best people in the Senate for the former.
What kind of fucking insanity is that?
Fani Willis did some dumb shit.
Republican scumbags, led by Mike Roman, Ashley Merchant, and God only knows who else, have worked incredibly hard to sabotage her utterly just case by any means at all,… and used some largely trivial misjudgments to do it.
And Dems all over America have gladly helped them do it, by making it out to be a scandal of Biblical proportions.
Even this afternoon, we’ve got Andrew Weissman on TV proclaiming that Willis must now resign, and recuse herself from the prosecution.
We’ve had a number of DK posters incessantly whining the same thing every day for the last six weeks or so.
What?
Call me completely crazy, but sometime before the planet’s destroyed, is it possible we could maybe start applying a little sanity to our standards of behavior, and maybe make at least a minor attempt to apply them EQUALLY to the bad guys and the less-bad guys?
Could we just maybe, finally, stop letting them kick us in the balls, again and again and again and again and again, while we dance around like idiots, politely muttering stupidities about the Marquess of Queensbury??
Cuz if we finally started doing that, man, things would look a HELL of a lot better than they do right now.
It’s a modest proposal.
