He Lied.
I know that many of us here are older than the Millenial generation, but I also know that when they’ve had these silly worries like “How will I ever buy a home?” or “I can’t afford rent and food and my student loans” or other such minor issues, we older folks have tried to offer helpful advice like
“Stop buying avocado toast”. We all believe, just like Donnie and his friends do, that people have to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and that it’s their own fault if they don’t have the cash to meet their obligations. So I thought that as a nice gesture across the partisan aisle, we could offer Donnie a few ways to find some of that bond money so he can file his appeal. Because we’re just good that way. Here’s just a few of the ways I think Donnie can economize:
- Stop eating out so often. It may not seem like much, but all those fast food meals REALLY add up. Make your own hamberders at home will save you money every day!
- Rather than shop at those fancy stores with the $12 gallons of milk, head to your local Aldi’s or Dollar General. Their ketchup is just as good as Heinz!
- Do you really need all those streaming services? Or that unlimited data cell phone plan? By cutting down your online time, you’ll save money!
- Studies show that performance-wise, used golf balls are almost as good as new. So get into those water hazards and save yourself some dough!
- You’ll save money on plumbing repairs if you switch to generic tp over standard 8.5x11 sheets of paper in your bathroom.
- For folks who eat their steaks well done, using a cheaper cut of beef is an excellent strategy to save money. Try chuck instead of Wagyu!
- Let the National Archives store your classified documents instead of paying for your own storage bins or EZ-Store rental unit.
That’s it for my economizing suggestions… I hope Donnie is able to make bond quickly now! What suggestions do YOU have for him as he tries to find a few more dollars? Please share in the comments, after perusing tonight’s Tops!

Frank Vyan Walton’s The Implausible Deniability of "Bloodbath" fostered many great comments and threads. Mercy Ormont kicked off a long comment thread by many great commenters.
