As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Greetings, my friends, and condgratulations on making it through another week. Welcome to yet another Saturday! I took a flyer on several books this week, and decided to tell you about a few of them. I enjoy almost all sorts of stories, but sometimes, what I want, is to learn more, about characters that I already know. This week, I returned to a world that I already know very well, but I was pleased to find, that there was still more to learn.
In “Star Trek: Picard: Rogue Elements”, I learned the story of how Picard’s Captain Rios came to command his ship, and his destiny. In the first and second seasons of Star Trek:Picard, Chris Rios was one of my very favorite characters. It hurt me, to watch as he left the series, but it also made me laugh and smile, to see him finally find where he belonged. It was a true pleasure to return to Rios, and learn more about him, and his life.

In Deep Space: Nine, one of my favorite characters was always Garak. I was always entranced by his character, and his tales of life as a spy. In the book “A Stitch in Time,” we learn how it is that Elim Garak became the man he was in deep space nine, what made him not only an accomplished spy, but also the man who quickly became one of Julian Bashir’s best friends.

If you enjoy backstory and character development as much as I do, give one or both of these a shot. They may surprise you.
