Putin seems to be very fond of threatening to use nuclear weapons every time he gets his ego dinged by every consequence of his actions.
A stray thought occurred to me while I was painting. I think Putin ought to think twice before trying it.
Because of the massive graft and bribery anyone in a position of power in the Russian army took, we saw just how shoddily all their conventional weapons were kept up at the start of invading Ukraine. They still are.
Why should there be an exception when it comes to maintaining the nuclear arsenal? Does an ordinary Russian asked to monitor the nuclear stockpile suddenly become a dedicated saint when they start work? Or, has procedure become as lax as it was at Love Canal Island in the 1970s?
Should Putin try to launch one of these things, isn't it possible that 1: Either enough nuclear radiation material has seeped out and the bomb goes pffft, or 2: it ends up exploding right there at the launch site, thus radiating his own countrymen instead?
I don't know much about nuclear physics, but I'm betting neither do the Russian military overseeing the weapons. As always, I'm eager to learn.

The photo of the Monocacy River is added to have a calming image.
