So that picture up there? That’s Savannah a couple of days after she came home with me last April. If you’re interested, you can read that story here. Well, Savannah has been a total joy, but she totally hates going to the vet. She’s terrorized by them and vice versa. She’s awesome at home with me and my friends, but she hates the vet with the hate of a thousand… I don’t know whats.
I’ve managed to get her all her necessary vaccinations, but I procrastinated on getting her spayed. I knew I had to do it, but I also thought that a cat won’t get pregnant before it’s a year old and, as good as my vet’s been for my other cats, I felt like I needed a different vet for Savannah, and finding one was gonna be a pain in the ass. Excuses, excuses, excuses, right?
Well, guess what…
I’ve been up since 4:00 this morning. When the first one was born, Savannah meowed like hell until I woke up and she said, “Look at this! What’s going on and what am I supposed to do?”
To which I answered, “Oh. Wow. This is real and I’m not really sure but we’ll figure it out.”
Four more kittens later, five in all, and we’re figuring it out. They’re adorable. Savannah is really, really doing such a good job with them, and I’m coming up with a plan so they can all have a good life going forward.
Do you want to see them?
I figured you probably did. I took three pictures of them next to a bell pepper to try to convey their size. I can’t decide which picture does the best job, so here’s all three. And then the last and best pic is of Savannah with all of them. She’s such a champ and an athlete and a good sport, and I just love her!
By the way, if anyone’s wondering what their pre-adoption names are, well, since they were born on Sunday their names are Bonny, Blythe, Good, Gay, and Sabbath. I don’t know which is which yet, but then again, neither does Savannah!
Oh, and don’t procrastinate on spaying your kitten!!!
