OK this isn't really a diary more like an anouncement.
Eartha Kitt died today at the age of 81. She was my second favorite Catwoman (Sorry I just have a thing for Julie Newmar). She was a legendary singer who made the charts with the Christmas classic Santa Baby. So it's rather Ironic that she passed on today of all days.
Eartha Kitt, a Seductive Legend of Stage and Screen, Dies at 81
Since it would take up to much space for me too list all of her work in movies and tv heres a link to her bio at IMDb.
In 1968, however, Kitt encountered a substantial professional setback after she made anti-war statements during a White House luncheon. It was reported that she made First Lady Lady Bird Johnson cry. The public reaction to Kitt's statements was much more extreme, both for and against her statements. Professionally exiled from the U.S., she devoted her energies to overseas performances.
As much as I hate to admit it I knew very little of Eartha's work before today. Other than her roles as Catwoman, Yzma and Madame Zeroni as well as her song Santa Baby I knew next to nothing of her life and career. So I would like to thank everyone for their comments, especially those which have informed me/us of just what an exceptional woman she really was. It's sad to think that we seldom know what a person is really like untill they've passed on.
Update: Wow my first time on the rec list, thanks. I just wish it was under better circumstances.
