Sorry for a short diary, but this has to get out there. Lawrence O'Donnell is filling in for Ed today, and he just had Frank Gaffney and David Rivkin on back to back debating the torture issue.
O'Donnell did not give an inch. In fact he had Gaffney admitting at one point that he did not know if the torture of Khalid Mohammed had actually resulted in saving American lives.
If MSNBC is really looking for another host in the 10pm slot, I nominate Lawrence O'Donnell for the post.
Go below the fold for a sort of oldy but goody... the O'Donnel destruction of Pat Buchanan over the Presidents visit to Notre Dame.
In the interest of making an appropriately lengthy and content rich diary, here is O'Donnel V. Buchanan. If this diary thread takes off and video of the O'Donnell Gaffney/Rivkin embroglio becomes available I'll post those as well. .
Update: O'Donnell used the next segment to deconstruct the right wings use of the terms socialist.
Another was a history lesson on the rise of Sonia Sotomayer, and he interviews a Republican hit man who is determined to stop her nomination if forwarded by Obama. O'Donnell demanded the hitman bring actual facts, and then quotes Sotomayer on the hitmans own talking point. O'Donnell has obviously done his research and is loaded for bear as he takes on these right wing talking heads.
I am trying to keep up with this diary and have the T.V. blaring in the background. But we learn from user lookit in the comments and confirmed by other commenters, that the hit man is actually caught on camera in this segment ripping his earpiece out and then pleading that he had lost audio. If that does not define the term "ownage", what does?
Update: Here is the Rivkin segment: . . Update: Here is the video with L/O v. Scott Wheeler on Judge Sotomayer. With 20/20 hindsight, I'm not entirely certain that Wheelers audio trouble was self inflicted. The gesture with his arm may be him attempting to get his ear piece working after some technical difficulty. .
