well, not quite, but May 4th is getting very close. May 4th changed my life in every conceivable way, and I can still smell the lilacs that lined the walkways at Kent State University.
This weekend and early next week I'll be going to the 40th annual commemoration of the events of May 4, 1970:

In addition to the official event sponsored by Kent State University, there will be a reunion of sorts for members of the Kent Committe to End the War in Vietnam, and the Kent chapter of Students for a Democratic Society aka SDS.
During the week, the Kent State Truth Tribunal, a project organized by Laurel Krause, the sister of Allison Krause, one of the students killed by the National Guard, will record statements of witnesses to the events, so that their memories and recollections of the tragedy will archived for the historical record. I'll be participating in the event by dredging up my own remembrances.
Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore will be live streaming the testimony given by witnesses on his website.
I invite all Kossacks to join me in Kent if you have the time and resources, or live in the area.
Peace, my brothers and sisters, is still a very precious commodity in this world. 40 years later and we are still killing and being killed in foreign lands for reasons that are muddled at best.
