I could talk about your momma here and no one would ever know.
After 30 diaries, thousands of comments, and countless hours of compu-labor, we are all finished.
Pie charts galore ahead...mmm....pie...
• Below the fold is each category list with the top 3 finishers highlighted.
Those on dial-up or whatever may view results at the polling site HERE once I edit each poll to allow that info to be seen by all. Sticking around here to rec and tip is encouraged, however.
Just sayin...{cough}
Happy Year of the Metal Rabbit!
Let's all take a moment to make new resolutions to resolve our old resolutions for the other
New Year. Or something.
Ok...back to business.
Editors note:
Today's Editor is LaughingPlanet.
All opinions expressed below are mine and mine only. This is a community diary and a community series. Anyone who extrapolates 1 person's involvement to reflect upon such a great team effort is ignorant of what it takes to make such a huge production happen. Seven editors posted 30 diaries, maybe averaging 100 comments. Hundreds of people submitted nominations. Thousands of votes were cast.
To say there were hundreds of hours spent of this year's series alone would be an understatement. Do keep that in mind. Anyone who doesn't surely does not have a firm grasp of what community means, nor, IMHO, can claim to care much about it.
Let us take a few seconds to make sure those who helped this year get their due. Each of these editors who posted a nominations diary, the hardest task of all:
boran2
Kitsap River
rb137
spedwybabs
weatherdude
Each of these fine Kossacks were instrumental in getting this year's kOscars to the finish line today; exmearden would be proud of you all.
Thank you!
Please give those folks some extra mojo when you see them in the comments here or elsewhere.
An extra-special thanks goes to smileycreek, without whom this year's kOscars likely would not have happened. She posted at least three four diaries in the series, including multiple labor-intensive nom diaries. She also built at least half the polls at the polling site, and formatted many of the other diaries for the rest of us.
Wherever you are, smiley, thanks a bazillion. We'll try not to resent you for being in a warm, sunny locale while most of us freeze our nards off.
A reminder from last year:
Acceptance speeches in the comments should be 30 seconds or less.
Don't make me cut to commercial!
Others feel free to talk about how you were robbed, how the system sucks, how I suck, or whatever is on your mind. If enough people heed my request for recs, I guess this could also serve at a thread to dish about who people are wearing on the other red carpet.
I'll be adding little bits of commentary here & there (when I can find time).
For starters, I am guessing that it helps to have your own blog when you are nominated for one of these awards. You'll see what I mean below. Future nominees take note.

Does it get any tighter than that?
It is a shame it wasn't a 7-way tie.
It was pretty close to that.
I am fairly sure that we have never seen the last-place finisher get 10.1% of the vote.
How cool is that?

I'm not sure how much better this could have worked.
The runoff voting allowed for a more complete vote, and therefore the final round results showed that all the finalists got at least 2 dozen votes.

Due to a massive editing SNAFUBAR, I didn't get much time to add quips in the diary body. I lost at least an hour of labor somehow, despite being rather diligent about backing everything up. It makes me want to smash my laptop into tiny pieces when that happens.
Alas, I re-created all the stuff that disappeared, and here we are.
So there ya have it.
Commence bleating about how you were robbed below; I know I will.
