Oh Hai!
Pawz for Japan has a benefit in Chicago this Saturday.
Steve Dale of WGN Radio will host the evening which will feature top classical musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and Lyric Opera Chorus. Outstanding, award-winning young performers and faculty from area music schools will also join their talents to show their support, entertain, and help raise money to assist with efforts underway to help Japan’s abandoned, injured and sick animals who are some of the most vulnerable and forgotten victims of this monumental crisis. All of the performers are donating their services. Net proceeds will be donated to Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support (JEARS) and World Vets
All the famous local artists, a good social evening, and helping woozles and pooties around the world - what more could one want?
We all want to do something to help the overhwhelming situation in Japan. This is a tangible item where small dollars will make a difference.
Here's an article about one of the beneficiaries:

The other beneficiary looks like a Partners In Health for critters:
