This morning while checking my e-mail I noticed one from a list I belong to in Oklahoma where we at times have heated political discussions. Seeing this post was from a republican of course I opened it. Her message to the list said it all. She wrote:
This is just unbelievable. I don't know which embarrasses me the most;
my voter's registration card which says Republican or telling people I
am from Oklahoma.
Living in this big red state is at times a chore, just to survive. I read the article she posted in amazement, could this be a joke? No, it is not a joke but a truly ignorant move by republicans in this state. Every two weeks I stand at a local food bank handing out food in a rural community. Nutritional requirements in Oklahoma are at a all time low for those who are lower income families. My nightmare is very sick and under nourished infants. How could the republicans in Oklahoma care so little about the most at risk among us? I am in shock right now. I am sure to be on the phone today!
In a shocking story out of Oklahoma, a Republican state representative amended a senior nutrition bill to slash funding for the Women Infants and Children (WIC) health program, by refusing to allow nine independent contractors to distribute federally funded nutrition and food vouchers to low-income mothers.
