Have you seen the headlines? THOUSANDS of teachers fired - from Dallas to Round Rock, Austin to Houston, and more. Our state legislators in the Texas House voted to fire over 80,000 teachers when they passed the state budget with its draconian cuts to education.
Now's the time for us to speak up, and tell these state legislators what we think about their defunding our children's future.
TELL YOUR LEGISLATOR WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THEIR VOTE!
These state legislators passed the state budget cuts and ignored the report from the nonpartisan Legislative Budget Board that said that over 300,000 jobs will be lost as a result of these cuts.
We’re now seeing the effect with hundreds of school districts preparing to lay off our children’s teachers. It’ll be a ripple effect going through our economy, and our state will be worse off as a result.

We count on these state legislators to put our priorities first, and they’ve let us down. However, it’s still not too late to save our schools and the future of our state. The final version of the state budget hasn’t passed, which means there’s time to close corporate tax loopholes, use our state’s Rainy Day Fund, and protect important public priorities like education and nursing home care for our seniors.
Tell them it’s not too late to do the right thing. Share this blog post with as many friends as you can on Facebook and Twitter so more Texans can join our campaign to save our children’s future.
