Mark Fiore has done it again - too...stinkin'...FUNNY!
What notable events have happened on April 28? Well, in 1789, the crew of the British ship Bounty mutineed, setting Captain William Bligh and 18 sailors adrift in a launch in the South Pacific. And, it happened 3 times - here, here, and here! ;D Author Harper Lee is 85 today; she also assisted Truman Capote during his In Cold Blood research. Mary McDonnell is 58 today; here's a shout - out to my fellow BSG geeks! :D
Let's get SPARKy! This coffee addict needs these suckers by the gross ton. Even ninjas are having it tough in these economic times! I can SO SEE my Dad doing this if he reaches the century mark. Finally, this guy saw Thelma & Louise one - too - many times!
On with The Rachel Maddow Show!
"Base - is Loaded" - Rep. Dean Heller has been appointed to the Senate seat soon to be vacated by Senator Lover - Boy - but - Parents - Needed - for - Payoff. He would beat Ms. Obtuse Angle by a whole big bunch! HA! He'll get there just in time to vote for Rep. Paul Ryan's budget in the Senate. ;D He voted "yes" in the House, so will he be stooopid enough to vote for it again? Talk about your flip - flopping!
There's supposed to be a GOBP primary debate next week??!!
Rep. Alan West HEARD IT from his constituents about his Rep. Ryan vote?! Wow! Was that at the same time he said some reporter deserved to get raped or something? Other GOBP Congress critters continue to HEAR IT from their constituents, too! The pension system in WI is actually on pretty sound financial footing - so much for that "It's all about the budget" $hit. ;D The WI union - busting law is still on ice, and GOBP state recall efforts are doing quite well, thank you! The OH union - busting $hit will probably be on the November ballot, so OH citizens will have a chance to say, "Spark No!" A Dem in MA is trying to union bust there?! BRILLIANT!
That whirring you hear is Senator Ted Kennedy spinning in his grave. Rachel said Dems blowing these opportunities being given to them by the GOBP on a national & state level would put the kibosh on their reputation; hell, it got the kibosh with me in the HCR $hit. So, THAT ship has sailed. Fire fighters are NOT feeling like Dems are their buds. Harold Schaitberger is ready to suspend federal campaign donations; he's president of the International Association of Fire Fighters. This shtick is eerily familiar to the fight put up for health benefits for 9/11 first responders.
Wow, Mr. Schaitberger is PI$$ED; he should be. Can HE run for Congress??!!
[The South got IT from Mother Nature over the past few days. Rachel outlined various ways to help.]
"Really Really REALLY Big Government" - Ugh, I don't know how many of these stories I can take. Benton Harbor, MI made page #1 of the New York Times?! WOW! Their financial emergency manager just sounded downright giddy with his new power. *&^%$#@!
Benton Harbor citizens are trying to recall their GOBP state rep who began all this financial marshal law $hit. GOOD! Lansing's mayor Virg Bernero is back again to talk about the "joy" in his fair state. Well, since we're talking Lansing...
Governator Snyder wants to cut school funding for each kid to the tune of $500 when that funding actually had a surplus?! OK, we need this clip now.
I never thought I'd say this, but I think MI might be scaring me more than WI these days. Son of a *&^%$#@!
"Right to Serve" - Katherine Miller, West Point cadet who resigned in light of DADT, re - applied there & was told she couldn't come back BECAUSE OF DADT. Nice...
Cadet Miller will not re - apply & will continue her studies at Yale. DADT is still keeping men & women who want to serve their country from serving their country.
She is in studio tonight. Could she re - apply at another military school once DADT has officially gone the way of Crystal Pepsi? How 'bout Annapolis or Colorado Springs? The training to transition from DADT all depends on unit leadership; most service members are saying this "training" is much ado about nothing. So, if "unit leadership" drags their feet, what are the consequences? I think they should get a red - hot poker up their hind quarters.
"Department of Corrections" - I've been hearing about this Sally Kern chic all day! She sounds like a lovely soul. Rachel, it turns out that politicos CAN be overtly white supreme - er! So, how 'bout this theme song for this segment? Rachel & I should be able to totally identify since we were "coming of age" at this time! :D
