From the BBC report it seems that the Colonel himself was in the building when the strike occured but was unharmed.

I'd like to add a couple of things.
There is no independant verification of the deaths that are reported to have occured. Just saying.
The other thing is that although I just wanted to report the story and not inject personal thoughts, I would appreciate it if people could knock it off with the snark. Not really the diary for it.

Al Jazeera reporting that there is some pushback on this story
http://english.aljazeera.net/...
Libyan officials took journalists to the house, which they said had been hit by at least three missiles. The roof had completely caved in in some areas, leaving mangled rods of reinforcing steel hanging down among chunks of concrete.
But Al Jazeera's Sue Turton, reporting from Benghazi, said there were "an awful lot" of suggestions in Libya that the news of the deaths could be fabricated.
"One of the main spokesmen for the National Council, Abdul Hafez Goga, is saying he thinks it could all be fabrication, that it may be well be Gaddafi trying to garner some sympathy," she said.
"Back in 1986, Gaddafi once claimed that Ronald Reagan, then US president, had launched a strike on his compound in Tripoli and killed his daughter. Many journalists since then dug around and found out that the actual child that had died had nothing to do with Gaddafi, that he sort of adopted her posthumously."
