So Governors Scott (R-FL) and Walker (R-WI) refused stimulus money from the Feds for high(er) speed rail in their states. They really showed the Democrat Obama administration a thing or two about wasting money on ...... ah ...... job creation. Well here's where some of the money the $2 billion Scott refused is going:
$795 million for the Northeast Corridor
$450 million for Amtrak to improve the Philly-NY line
$404 million to Midwest States
$300 million to California for its LA-SFO line
$336 million to Midwest States and California to buy US-made railcars and locomotives
“These projects will put thousands of Americans to work, save hundreds of thousands of hours for American travelers every year, and boost U.S. manufacturing by investing hundreds of millions of dollars in next-generation, American-made locomotives and railcars,” Vice President Joe Biden said ...
Over the fold ...
Twenty-four states, the District of Columbia and Amtrak submitted more than 90 applications by April 4 for a share of the high-speed rail grants Florida rejected.
Republican Governor Rick Scott returned the $2.4 billion Florida had been awarded to build a new high-speed rail line between Orlando and Tampa.
Scott turned down $2.4 BILLION!! He sure showed them!
And the funniest part? Wisconsin was one of the 24 states that applied for funds:
Wisconsin, which returned $810 million last fall after Republican Scott Walker was elected governor, had sought $150 million to improve an existing line between Chicago and Milwaukee. It got nothing.
What a fool. Another nail in his recall coffin methinks. Not only cutting workers' rights and pay, but also preventing the creation of new jobs without increasing Wisconsin's deficit.
Like the Al Queda or Taliban, Rick Scott and Scott Walker are killing themselves politically over ideology. I say keep it up.
