This weekend, we found out that two Muslim clerics were delayed in arriving for an anti-Islamophobia conference in Charlotte because the pilot on their original flight didn't want to fly with them on the plane. Now we get word that a third imam got the runaround as well.
Al-Amin Latif says he arrived in Charlotte after a 12 hour drive from New York.
He says he was denied boarding twice on American Airlines.
"She specifically said our airline will not allow you to fly on this flight..I said why..they said contact this number they'll explain," Latif told WBTV's Kay Johnson.
The U.S. born imam says he's basically getting the run around.
Latif says one security agent told him it's because there was a mix-up with his birth date.
A second person, he says, told him it's because his name does not match the way it's shown on his driver's license.
American's handling of Latif contrasts strongly with Delta's handling of Masudur Rahman and Mohamed Zaghloul, who were put on another flight after Delta officials tried for half an hour to talk some sense into the pilot. So which story is it? Considering the circumstances, American needs to come clean.
