Here at Top Comments we strive to nourish community by rounding up some of the site's best, funniest, most mojo'd and most informative commentary. We depend on your help with talent spotting. If you see a comment by another Kossack that deserves wider recognition, please send it to topcomments at gmail by 9:30pm Eastern. Please please please include a few words about why you sent it in as well as your user name (even if you think we know it already :-)), so we can credit you with the find!
For those of you outside the parent of a school-aged child demographic, post-Labor Day (here in the Northeast, at least) means more than just tucking the white shoes in the back of the closet. Follow me below the dingledoodlesquiggliedividerthingie fold...
While technically the Casa K's went back to school last Tuesday, it was for an abbreviated week and a long weekend off. Over the next two weeks we settle back into routine - school, homework, music, sports. We establish the swim team carpools, coordinate those with soccer, fill the google calendar with What's When & Where for Who, reduce "Screen time" (TV, video games, computer) to lower weekday levels, and restock the house with Approved Peanut-Free Snacks.
Mr. Brillig's workday commute gets longer, mostly due to the return of the neighboring town's high schoolers. Not them per se, but the crossing guard at one intersection near the high school who insists on snarling traffic on the main road so that a teeeeny side street can make a left turn. One that they should be doing at the nearby street-with-a-traffic-light, but I digress...
We also return to church - our Unitarian Universalist congregation is lay-led over the summer, meaning we take our Sundays to lazy in with pancakes and the paper. This brings its own host of meetings and scheduled events.
The nicest part of returning to my routine is my weekly get-together with several friends for what has become known as Pretty Coffee. Summers get hectic schedule wise, but from September thru June, we manage it almost every Monday.
What changes - good, bad, or otherwise - does September bring for you? Is your "season" different than the traditional school year? Are you the equivalent of the Equator, same all year round? Share with us in the comments!

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
From cv lurking gf:
There were several good ones in this diary by mamabigdog, but agnostic's comment had several that had Crashing Vor and me laughing.
From alizard:
I wish I had said the following. But since I didn't, all I can do is pass along here4tehbeer's words to others I think will appreciate it. From Laura Clawson's Fox News uses edited footage to accuse Teamsters president of call to violence.
From Catte Nappe:
kck posted an excellent bit of advice to MinistryOfTruth that many of us thought was a pretty good game plan for most anybody in any circumstances
From Floja Roja:
Bubbanomics explains what is causing the current spate of pie on the Rec List.
From Land of Enchantment:
Bubbanomics elicits a guffaw for his graphic take on our new moderator.
From bronte17:
heh... Clem Yeobright provides a chuckle when he notes the New moderator decision #1 in New Daily Kos design update tonight.... Make sure to check out what the new mod says in reply.
And kos expands on the topic that generated the thread.
From Yours Truly, brillig:
Commenting in his own diar..erm, post, Clarknt67 muses on what's encompassed by one Prop 8 defender's "Hate Evil" sign. Damnit Janet amends the list, and a thread develops.
Nina Katarina on President Obama consulting Cantor and Boehner prior to his speech.
