Jon Stewart had some fun last night with Jeff Foxworthy's endorsement of Mitt Romney with a series of his classic "You may be a redneck..." jokes, but modified for Mitt Romney.
Everything Romney knows about the South, he learned from a Jeff Foxworthy routine, I swear to God. It's like, "If you have a working 52-inch plasma TV on top of an also working 52-inch plasma TV, you might be a Romney. If you're favorite kind of fireworks is firing people at work...."
But seriously, where is Romney getting this stuff?
GRETCHEN CARLSON (3/12/2012): Jeff Foxworthy joins us next with the governor.
Holy shit.
3/12/2012:
JEFF FOXWORTHY: Mitt is the right guy for the job.
GRETCHEN CARLSON: I understand you've gotten a lot of new material from the feedback from people since you made this endorsement. What kind of new material?
(video feed dies)
GRETCHEN CARLSON: And now we have to keep ourselves and all the viewers hanging as to the feedback that Jeff Foxworthy got, and the new material that he's been able to accrue since endorsing Mitt Romney.
Nah nah nah nah, Gretch, I got this, satellite troubles, don't even worry about this. (puts on fake mustache)
(in Jeff Foxworthy accent)
"If you have a car on your front lawn because your garage only holds five cars....
If you go to the diner and order your eggs Fabergé....
If you think Cloverfield was a movie about your butler... you might be a Romney."
I think (or at least hope) Jon just started a new trend: "You might be a Romney" jokes. Now, everyone chime in with your own jokes!
Videos below the fold.
Jon also discussed the
viral Kony 2012 video with some of his correspondents on how this was necessary to
reach the youth today.
Meanwhile, Stephen discussed the GOP's current
Southern strategy for the upcoming primaries in Alabama and Mississippi with Democratic strategist
Dave "Mudcat" Saunders.
He then had another
Cheating Death segment involving an interesting use of bacon.
Stephen interviewed Katherine Boo, while Jon interviewed anti-tax lunatic Grover Norquist, which of course went long. Here's the whole unedited interview in three parts.
