Good morning and Happy St Patrick's Day.
This morning we'll be going over to Frankenoid's Saturday Morning Garden Blog for a sneaky surprise birthday party for her there, so I hope you'll all join me in wishing the KosMother of Saturday Morning Series Blogging a happy one. It may be early for liquid cheer, even on Paddy Day, but I'll hoist a cyber-sip to her to start the day off right. Corned beef and cabbage is on our home menu for later today, and we'll have a couple of guests in for that.
You may be shocked to discover that I am a closet University of New Mexico "Lobos" men's basketball team fan, on those years when they show promise. The Lobos are hot this year, and tonight they face Louisville Cardinals for yet another shot at the elusive "Sweet Sixteen" slot at the NCAA Finals. UNM has never made it to the Sweet 16, but this year they have as good a shot at it as they have ever had. Read all about it here, in the Santa Fe New Mexican, the West's oldest newspaper.
I am a fair weather fan only, and hold low hopes, but miracles do happen and the Lobos have already shocked and humiliated some nationally ranked teams this year. All of New Mexico's ears and eyes will be tuned to tonight's Big Game and pandemonium will erupt here if they win. The Finals are in Phoenix this year, just over the hill, relatively speaking here in the West, and a mighty contingent of fans will surely make the journey should the occasion call for it.
I wish them luck. Our quirky and obscure national treasure of a State can use all the Glory it can get.
I did fix a couple of things around the house this week: the water fountain for the chickens
needed a replacement fitting for the one damaged by freezing this winter, and I have a new spark plug for the roto-tiller engine that I hope will make it start.
