If you need more proof that being governed by Fox News watching know-nothings and paranoid conspiracy theorists is a bad idea, just check the proposed Iowa GOP party Platform.
No section on job creation. Nothing. Ending ACORN? Check. Nevermind that ACORN no longer exists. Ending Bath-shit crazy UN-conspiracy Agenda 21. Check. Ending Sharia Law. Check. Ending the teaching of multi-culturalism in schools. Check. Read that last one again. Really.
Here are some of the craziest highlights courtesy ThinkProgress.org . . .
BIRTHERISM: Under the section entitled ‘Elections,’ the Iowa GOP uses non-specific language to hint at the idea that President Obama was not born in the United States. The section reads:
We insist that a candidate prove that he or she meets all requirements for that office prior to being placed in nomination, including proof of United States citizenship.
GETTING RID OF GOVERNMENT: The platform proposes the elimination of 16 federal departments and agencies — despite the fact that throughout the rest of the document they call on these particular agencies to enact or repeal certain policies:
We support the elimination of the departments of Agriculture, Education, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, Energy, Interior, Labor, and Commerce as well as TSA, FDA, ATF, EPA, National Endowment for the Arts, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac.
INVESTIGATING ACORN: The Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) came up a lot during the 2008 election, because it was a ‘radical‘ group that ran voter turnout for President Obama. Critics — and apparently the Iowa GOP — believe that Obama ‘stole’ the election using ACORN. Despite the fact that ACORN no longer exists, the Iowa platform calls for an investigation:
We call for a full investigation of the organization formerly known as ACORN and its allied organizations, call for full prosecution of those involved in any illegalities discovered, and call for elimination of government funding of such organizations.
AGENDA 21: While most think of Agenda 21 as a global sustainable development campaign, there is a long-running conspiracy theory that the UN effort is actually a plan for world-dominating government entity. The Iowa GOP has included this theory, as well:
We demand that the term “sustainable development” be defined, vetted, and controlled by county and state agricultural agencies whose private property it impacts rather than the UN, other international or Agenda 21 agencies, or any federal organization.
Holy batshit crazy, batman! This document should stand as a staggering work of mind blowing lunacy. Proof that in Iowa, as I suspect elsewhere, the GOP is too batshit crazy to govern
More below the fold . . .
18 sections banning abortion. What war on women? The Iowa GOP says they want prayer in public schools, there is a section including "Personhood at the moment of conception" laws, a whole section on how right to work laws are what is needed in Iowa, they want Government spending to be decreased below 10% of GDP which is like asking for Newt's spaceport on Mars, it's like you put every GOP/Fox News boogeyman and talking point into a blender with some conspiracy theory aargle baargle and then added a war on women and rampant homophobia and then put it in a blender and threw it at a wall.
They don't just want to eliminate "Obamacare" they want to eliminate the Health Kids Act, because who needs healthy kids?
The Iowa GOP wants to replace Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security with "private solutions", it says so right under Human Services Section 1.5
And the GOP opposes the dreaded NAFTA superhighway that connects Canada and Mexico to America, probably because they have watched too many Lou Dobbs conspiracy theory rants.
In all seriousness, these people are nucking futs and are totally incapable of governing. This is what happens when Fox News and the Right Wing Noise Machine reduces a large portion of the population to a level of idiocy where they are allowed to believe in every anti-government conspiracy theory you could imagine for the sake of motivating low information voters to vote out of fear of scary, scary Un-American things like whatever Fox was covering last night. This isn't a party platform to be taken seriously, it is more like crib notes from the last 6 months of the Glenn Beck show. The lunatics are truly in charge of the asylum in the Iowa GOP, because this doesn't read like a serious list of policy preferences, it reads like the paranoid and insular delusions of an absolute crackpot, because that is what the modern GOP is, a place where delusional conspiracy theorists, haters, bigots, plutocrats and know-nothings hang out and where moderates are not allowed, you are either barking at the moon crazy or you aren't pure enough to be a conservative now-a-days. This paranoid and delusional pathetic excuse for a preliminary GOP Iowa party platform stands as proof of that.
Here is the link to the whole Iowa GOP proposed platform in its' depraved entirety. Read the whole thing, but be warned. These people are nucking futs.
Peace and love to all
