Thanks to Juanita Jean's (The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.) for a link to the (purported) 200-page online opposition research report on Mitt Romney, by McCain's campaign from 2008. I've been watching for some mention of it in diaries here, but haven't seen it, and now The Huffington Post has a story up linking to the buzzfeed story by Andrew Kaczynski. Still not proof the document is correctly attributed.
If nothing else, it is a compendium of Romney up to 2008 and represents an organised overview of the man and his positions with the caveat that anything new should be vetted. A tidbit on his lack of foreign policy experience:
In December 2006 Trip to China, Romney "Stumbled Over Relatively Straightforward Geopolitical Issues," Did Not Know Value of Chinese Currency. "The students asked Romney about his potential presidential run, his views on Iraq, and banking and trade issues. At times, Romney stumbled over relatively straightforward geopolitical issues: Romney had to ask the US Embassy staff accompanying him the value of the Chinese renminbi to the US dollar, despite the fact that this is one of the hottest economic issues between Washington and Beijing.” (Jehangir S. Pocha, “Romney Tries Political Hand In China,” The Boston Globe, 12/9/06)
There is a six page outline of "Top Hits," followed by more extensive sections on Social Issues, Economic Issues, Foreign Policy, Domestic Policy, Business Record, Flip-Flops (ten pages!), Political Issues, and Boston Video Archive references.
Sorry this is so short; just wanted to draw attention to a possibly helpful document.
