The results from Tuesday's recall election were terrible. As a teacher, they really sucked for me. I may be grasping at straws but there was some positive news from the city of Milwaukee. Barrett actually received 77% of the vote and net 125,000 votes. Turnout was 76% of registered voters. The best news is that on primary day there were around 297,000 registered voters. As of Tuesday there were 304,000 registered voters. That means that 7,000 voters registered for the May primary. There were reports of several wards on the North Side (Majority African-American wards) running out of registration forms for new voters on Tuesday. I will be interested to see if the city releases the current number of registered voters. Come November Obama should once again net at least 150,000 votes from the city. (If voter ID is approved from the courts this may go down a little). Also, four years ago there was not a US Senate race in Wisconsin to benefit Dems. This year Tammy Baldwin is running for Kohl's seat. She should also net a great number from the city and Dane County will have higher numbers. Just wanted to bring some good numbers at the end of a bad week. Take care.
