A grocery store chain called Blue Cage has achieved fairly large success over its 45 years of business. It has 1,614 grocery store locations in 39 states, and opens new stores at the rate of 30-40 per year. The company has a reputation for reasonably priced food at a slightly higher-than-average quality than the rest. The mix of good prices and good products makes the store chain a hit.
The owners of Blue Cage are deeply religious, belonging to the 6,000 year old Nacirema religion. Nacirema is widely practiced through the United States, and is largely peaceful. As with all religions, there are extremist Nacirema groups scattered throughout the world, and one of the most popular extremist positions Naciremans take is their anti-Christian stance.
Many Nacirema are very outspoken about wanting to eliminate Christianity from society. They repeatedly introduce (and sometimes pass) legislation severely limiting the rights of Christians in the United States. The owners of Blue Cage are sympathetic to these causes, going so far as to spend tens of millions of dollars funding groups that hate Christians and want to see them eliminated.
One of the groups that Blue Cage gave millions to even went so far as to help pass a "Kill the Christians" bill, making Christianity an executable offense. But the owners of Blue Cage don't care -- by continuing to give money to groups that go so far to want Christians dead, they approve of it.
When asked about it, the CEO of Blue Cage gleefully admitted to supporting these groups. There was a huge blacklash among Christians in the country, but Blue Cage kept doubling down on their anti-Christian stance.
The Naciremans decided that enough was enough. They led a social media campaign to show their appreciation for Blue Cage's funding of groups that want to eliminate and even kill Christians in the name of their own religion. Tens of thousands of Naciremans flooded Blue Cage grocery stores all over the country. The lines snaked out of the stores and around the strip malls. The media was floored and covered the outpouring of support favorably, calling it a major blow to Christianity.
Now take a step back. If the above story were true, would you still support "Blue Cage's" right to free speech, including funding organizations that advocate for the execution of another group?
No, you wouldn't. That's what Chick-fil-A "Christians" are doing against gays and lesbians in this country. That's what the Chick-fil-A flap was about. The company financially supports organizations that want to eliminate and even execute homosexuals, and tens of thousands of people flooded Chick-fil-A locations on Wednesday to show their support for that ideology.
Anyone showing disapproval of this was told to have "tolerance" and "respect" for their Christian beliefs. These are not Christian beliefs -- they are borderline-fascist ideas masquerading as "Christianity" to get broad support among Americans. Imagine their reaction if a company funded groups that called for the execution of Christians instead of gays.
Perspective.
