Great news from John McCain!
John McCain acknowledged today that Obama's rebuttals to Mitt Romney's hypocrisy are indeed taking a toll on Romney's poll numbers.
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Sunday slammed President Obama’s reelection campaign as one of the most “disgraceful” and negative he’s ever seen, but conceded that the attacks have “succeeded to a certain degree” at disqualifying Mitt Romney with voters.
I'd certainly say that a statistically significant polling lead qualifies as a "certain degree."
Appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” Obama’s 2008 opponent weighed in on an ad by the pro-Obama Priorities USA that implies Romney was responsible for the death of a cancer-stricken woman after his company took steps that cost her her job and health insurance.
Ouch! He said that Romney's ads are working
on Fox News! You'd better be careful Senator McCain. Exposing Fox News viewers to a dose of reality verges on cruel and unusual punishment!
“This is the free enterprise system. The only place in the world that I can recall where companies never failed was the old Soviet Union,” McCain said on “Fox News Sunday.” “And yes, the free enterprise system can be cruel.”
You're absolutely right Senator McCain. For example, when
corporations lay
people off, people often lose their health insurance. In some cases, regular people perish without health insurance while the Mitt Romneys of the world profit.
It's interesting that you can blithely acknowledge the cruelty of the free enterprise system on the one hand, and then cry foul when PrioritiesUSA points out that Romney benefitted from that cruelty time and again. However, I can assure you Senator, that as much as it hurts to be reminded of the cost of your privilege (how many houses do you and Mr. Romney own?), it's a lot worse to lose a job and a loved one.
I know that's difficult for you to understand. Speaking of which, I'm surprised that it's still difficult for you to understand that by repeatedly mentioning an ad that the President's campaign hasn't even paid to air, you're continuing to feed the argument with oxygen. For free.
I know you guys believe that you're running a clean campaign because you're refraining from airing Rev. Wright ads which would remind everyone that the guy who killed Bin Laden really hates America. You're so even-handed, Senator McCain, that I'm sure you'll excoriate Mr. Romney for accepting the endorsement of a birther and for saying that the President wants to eliminate the welfare to work requirement. Right?
We're waiting ...
