How quickly you all seem to forget THIS incident that happened at a DEMOCRAT EVENT.

I can't believe the comments in the diary on the recommend list. How racism would never occur at a Democratic event.
Do you all have short memories or what?
The CNN newswoman is allowed to present HER view on how she sees racism in America. You don't get to dismiss that view without hard evidence.
Everyone needs to wake up and realize that racism is rife in this country. It didn't just magically disappear because we have a black President.
You might not be throwing nuts or calling someone the N-word, but somewhere in your life you have committed a racist act.
WE ALL COMMIT RACIST ACTS. It's part of our culture and the way to break the cycle is to start discussing it in the open. If we were able to acknowledge that we sometime fall short, we would all be able to move forward and learn from each other.
And don't give me the "I'm color-blind speech". In MY opinion, that's a little racist. You should be able to see color and appreciate it without any sort of connotations.
As I frequently say...Be color-neutral.
2:26 PM PT: So I went out and had a swim and have these thoughts...
1. Sorry about the Democrat vs Democratic (although I do think it's rude that some of you are implying I'm a troll)
2. I'm not linking to vile comments in the other diary. Feel free to go have a look. What is vile to one person seems to be perfectly okay to another.
3. You can't pick or choose who is a Democrat. That lady in that video IS/WAS a Democrat.
4. You don't get to assign value points to racism. Everyone seems to be arguing that calling someone the N-word is less harmful to that person than throwing nuts.
5. While the Democratic Party strives to be inclusive, it isn't perfect. It's okay to point out where we can do better. That doesn't mean we are the Republicans but we don't get off scott free and pretend that our side is all fairies and rainbows.
