In all the analyses of Mr. Ryan's Medicare plan, rarely is mentioned its most cynical, dehumanizing aspect: the marketing hook.
"Don't worry," seniors are told. "We won't change a thing about your Medicare. Your benefits will stay exactly the same."
All you have to do is sell out your kids. The ones still working. So your benefits stay the same.
It is the perfect crystallization of the Republican vision of an "I've got mine" society, offered right out in the open. "Come on, vote for us. We'll make sure you're safe. Your kids? What about 'em? What do you care? You'll be dead, right?"
Quite the deal. The sort you'd expect to be signed in blood.
