Ice.
Sleet snakes crawling across the streets.
I'm not too fond of snow, but I loathe ice. And I hate snow drifted on top of ice.
This is my car, semi-sheltered under a tree, already coated in about half an inch of ice - and it's still sleeting and icing.
The predicted 6-8" of snow? Is going south and we get ice.
That ice will stick around for a couple of days, which really, really sucks as I have to go to work and home again in the dark. Driving on ice in the dark is one of the scariest things I do. You can't see the black ice in the dark. You can barely see it in the daytime.
Five more years, and then I can retire. Then I won't ever have to drive on ice again. Really, that's the one thing that excites me most about retiring - never having to drive on ice or snow again.
I've got my ice cleats in my purse, and in the car, I have animal-friendly traction pellets, Tyre Grip, snow shovel, blankets, water, food, and a nice electric blanket that runs off the cigarette lighter in the car, and a full tank of gas.
I wish, so very much, that all the people who don't have to be out and driving to work would stay off the streets so those of us who do have to get to work can do so with less traffic and fewer potential hazards.
If you don't have to drive in this - consider those of us who do, and please don't drive.
