What republican workers should know they’re giving away voting for “privatization” – a list
where corporations have rigged the “Free Market” forcing people that work for a living to pay corporations without knowing it.
8 ways privatization has brought pain and misery to American life – August 4, 2013
1) Health care:
Private for profit US health care system is far more expensive (in developed world) forcing 42% to skip treatment and/or meds. Surgery costs 3 to 10 times more than in Canada, Germany, France or U.K. while US has shorter life expectancy than almost all developed countires.
Single payer Medicare costs 1/3 (pdf) to administer with 3.5 years increased longevity.
2) Privatizing Water:
a proven failure (pdf) thrilling corporations like Monsanto with water tax gouging opportunity to re-sell water they polluted.
3) Internet, TV, and phone:
OECD reports South Korea internet speed is 200 times faster than US @ ½ the cost. Business friendly Bloomberg notes deregulation “the invisible hand/free market” - you know, all that “burdensome” regulation would lower cost and raise performance, yet instead created an “unregulated monopoly” that wouldn’t let that happen. Internet access remains slow and expensive
4) Transportation:
Republicans attempt to privatize public transportation calling it ”European socialism”. Meanwhile US falls further behind
In every case listed, for-profit privatization upped the costs (pdj)
5)“Banking”:
Goldman Sachs - loan sharking Setting up predatory loans designed to fail then betting against its failure for profit. This practice played a huge part in the Financial crisis of 2007–08. Workers then bailed out the banks/Wall Street.
Countrywide and Wells Fargo (pdf) targeting AA & Hispanic communities with junk loans.
HSBC laundering drug cartel money.
GE Capital caught on tape skimming its customers.
Hegde fund managers insider trading.
B of A & JP Morgan cooking the books.
LIBOR scandal More cooking international style
illegal foreclosures
Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi explains how banks create bubbles designed to modernize and steal billions more quickly and efficiently

A Public Bank otoh, Bank of North Dakota works very well for the people
6) Prisons:
With each prisoner “worth” a profit stream of $40,000 per year privatizing prisons , especially with a system targeting (pdf) a higher percentage of Democratic voters, is a natural choice for a corrupt party, even as studies show private prison costs to society is more not less
7) Education:
A 2013 Standford University CREDO study (pdf) shows that public schools are not outperformed by private for-profit schools; exposing the republican privatization campaign as just another scheme to siphon off of public monies for profit, shedding of workers hard earned pension obligations and an attack on unions to boot
8) Consumer protection:
Republican cuts; FEMA, EPA, CFPB, NLRB, etc. These agencies protect people from corporate wrongdoing. Republicans goal : End these agencies or neuter them
How have corporations gotten away with the huge difference in wealth between workers and the 1%ers?
Most people don’t realize just how much money has been systematically stolen from them year after year – that’s how
Who's got the money in America?
That is what privatization of our public space does – the republican agenda

What to expect after the August recess:
3 biggest lies corporate lobbyists will use to push lower corporate taxes, while raising taxes on workers; so called ”broadening the base”
And some political cartoons
Note: This is more of a list than a real Dairy, aimed at workers who were raised republican and never thought to change. Just a few things that they may not know about voting republican - they can do much better for themselves, family and the the land they live on. It's still a choice
